What's Wrong with tulsa?

Now theres a tough question to answer. So many things wrong, it's hard to understand what. So here is a begining and only the begining to my opinion. Urban Tulsa has published their "Best of Tulsa" list. According to them and their readers, Oral Roberts won "Best Spiritual Leader" from the "Local Celebs" group. I find this quite interesting and disturbing at the same time. Why? Read this and this, and maybe it will shed some light. Don't get me wrong, I consider myself a Christian, not perfect of course, and certainly not a bible thumper so common in tulsa. But the fact that he has such a huge influence on this city and that he has so many supporters here even after all the heresy and outrageous claims he has made amazes me. How blind can people be? Evidently quite blind. Warnings about his type can be found in the bible:

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."

Matthew 7:15

"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not."

2 Peter 2:1-3

"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."

1 John 4:1

We definately need people who are spiritual leaders. They show us the way when we lose sight of what is important. But please people, you can't just be lead by your noses by some self-proclaimed prophet. Open your eyes!
